The museum's exhibitions reveal the different facets of the Ardèche Cévennes; the geology, archaeology, ethnography and medicine collections bear witness to the multi-millennial history of this contrasting territory.
Located on the edge of the old centre of Vans, the museum is housed in the buildings of a former convent and a former silk mill.

Through five exhibitions, the museum reveals the different facets of a very contrasting territory that forms a unique whole: the Ardèche Cévennes. The geology, archaeology, ethnography and medicine collections reveal the nature, culture and personality of the men who shaped this historic region.

In this territory characterized by a significant diversity of the subsoil, rocks, fossils and minerals are witnesses to vanished worlds and reveal a history dating back 550 million years.

Open to contemporary initiatives, the museum organizes a new temporary exhibition each year and hosts events: concerts, readings, conferences, etc. The establishment benefits from the “Musée de France” label.

The Vans Museum offers an original shop with creations of derivative objects, inspired by the museum's collections and made by Ardèche craftsmen. Pottery, jewelry, tableware, postcards, posters or humorous objects can be discovered at the museum reception.

Free access, according to museum opening hours.
