Push open the small wooden door and enter the Clos du Pioule. You'll be surprised by the multitude of flowers and trees that coexist here. Nearly five hundred different varieties are nurtured by the owner, Nicole Jalla-Cerulei. You take the central path formed by arched rose bushes. This multifaceted green corner brings together Mediterranean and exotic plants. Like in the upper part of the garden, where you'll admire a rockery of southern plants, cacti, and palm trees. You'll come across flowerbeds grouped by color. There, a series of white flowers, lilies, roses, and gladioli. Further on, spot the blue and red squares. Nicole has shaped this space by giving free rein to her imagination. She enjoys pruning and maintaining her garden, but is also keen to preserve its untamed look. She lets wild plants like columbines, wild thyme, and thyme grow. Further down, the shade of the trees and the ponds provide a welcome coolness in summer. You'll happily settle down on the wooden chairs. Derek Jarman's quote, inscribed on a pot, then takes on its full meaning: "Paradise haunts all gardens, but only some gardens are paradises."
There aren't just plants in the Clos du Pioule. Nicole Jalla-Cerulei has scattered her garden with various recycled objects. She assembles pieces of wood or iron to give them animal shapes.
