Access is easy to admire this viewpoint. Which does not mean that the view is any less beautiful! The Sainte Philomène chapel, which dates from the 19th century, faces the Saint-Eugène hermitage overlooking the Chassezac valley.
From the village of Les Vans, take the road towards Alès. After a few bends, you will see a chapel on the left, “La chapelle Saint Philomène”. This small chapel dates from the 19th century. It faces the hermitage of Saint Eugène built on a limestone cliff overlooking the Chassezac valley and the village of Chassagnes.
A car park allows you to park and fully enjoy the exceptional view of the birth of the Gorges du Chassezac and the Bois de Païolive. An orientation table makes it easier to read the landscape.
By foot
To admire the panorama from the Saint Eugène Chapel you can follow the directions on the hiking sign below the chapel.
Good to know:
Picnic tables are available under the old station not far from the chapel, to fully enjoy the site and take a relaxing break.
