The treasures of Thines

01
Roman church
The 12th century Romanesque church is a true jewel of theArticle novel. It was built of stone. shale, granite gray and Stoneware red. Its polychromy makes it exceptional. The monumental staircase that leads there offers a view of the valley just as exceptional.

02
A memorial fresco
Thines is also a village that was scarred during the Second World War. As evidenced by the fresco almost 8 meters long sculpted by an artist from Ardèche, Marcel Bacconnier.

03
An interpretive journey
Le Rock of Thines, the last site to be labelled Géosite and developed, bears extraordinary witness to the use of the riches of the earth by the ancient Cévennes to compose the remarkable architecture of the church and the village. Composed of ten thematic panels, the 2 km circuit (including the approach walk to the hamlet) guides you to explore the geological, architectural and historical wealth of the hamlet.
